Our Philosophy

At Stephen de Leon Photography, we believe that the best photo's come from the best friendships. Our approach is simple; we take the time to get to know you before your wedding day so that there is one less stranger on your wedding day. Developing relationships that last a life time is not only what we strive for everyday, it is what we enjoy most. This time and attention that we invest in you is what allows us to capture those moments that mean the most to you.

About Stephen

Stephen de Leon attributes his love of travel, fascination of diverse cultures and passion for people to his eclectic and somewhat nomadic upbringing. A son of a career military Filipino father and a New York Italian mother, Stephen was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up traveling the world. He lived in Europe for six years, and was a resident of Berlin, Germany at the time the wall fell. Moving to a different location every few years forced Stephen to become comfortable with change and encouraged him to be outgoing. After high school, Stephen enlisted in the Army, where he served as a paratrooper in the legendary 82nd Airborne Division. It was during this time of his life that a passion for photography began to develop. After receiving an honorable discharge, Stephen used the GI Bill to attend Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where he earned his degree in Photography. Having braved the Midwest winters long enough, Stephen moved to Los Angeles, California where he first worked as a photographic assistant and eventually opened up his own studio. In 2005, Stephen began working on a project in Texas for world renowned outdoor photographer, Charles Ellenberger. It was during this time of his life that he met his wife, Ashley, a New Orleans native. After the completion of the project with Mr. Ellenberger in 2008, Stephen moved to Alexandria, Virginia to be close to family. Today, Stephen continues to photograph weddings on both coasts, where he is constantly searching for new places to see and new friends to share the wonderful experiences of life with.
